New Prediction Market: Republican pick-ups in the House in 2010

Intrade has listed a market for the number of seats gained by the Republicans in the House of Representatives in the 2010 mid-term elections.

Contract Rules:

This market is for the net gain made in the total number of seats held by the Republicans in the House of Representatives in the 2010 mid-term elections.

A contract will settle (expire) at 100 ($10.00) if the Republicans have a net gain equal to, or greater than, the number of seats specified in the contract.

A contract will settle (expire) at 0 ($0.00) if the Republicans do not have a net gain equal to, or greater than, the number of seats specified in the contract.

Expiry will be based on the official results of the 2010 mid-term elections, as reported by three independent and reliable media sources.

At the time this market was opened the Republicans held 177 seats. The net gain of seats will be calculated using this figure.

For the purposes of this contract any seats held by an Independent who caucuses with the Republicans will NOT be considered a Republican seat. The seat must be held by a Republican.

The Exchange reserves the right to invoke Contract Rule 1.8 (Time Protection) if deemed appropriate.

Any changes to the result after the contract has expired will not be taken into account - Exchange Rule 1.4
