The Exchange has listed 0-100 contracts on a case of Asian Avian Flu strain H5N1 being confirmed in the United States of America.
The contracts can be found under Current Events> Bird Flu> Asian Bird Flu to be found in any breed of bird or fowl in the USA

Bird 'flu to be confirmed in the USA ON/BEFORE 31st December 2005

BIRDFLU.USA.MAR06
Bird 'flu to be confirmed in the USA ON/BEFORE 31st March 2006

The contract(s) will be expired at 100 if at least one case of Avian 'flu strain H5N1 is confirmed in the USA by the 23:59:59 ET on the specific date

The contract will be expired at 0 if there is no case of Avian 'flu strain H5N1 is confirmed in the USA by the 23:59:59 ET on the specific date.

The US Government must officially confirm the case in any of the 50 states. (Puerto Rico is not counted).

For expiry purposes the 'Asian' avian 'flu strain H5N1 will be used.

*** Clarification added October 27th, 2005***
US Customs and Border Protection (US Homeland Security) does not consider any birds in customs quarantine to be resident within the USA. Therefore any birds (exotic or otherwise) confined in quarantine and not released into the USA will not be considered when expiring the contract.

The 'flu strain may be found in any breed of bird or fowl.

- The Exchange reserves the right to invoke Contract Rule 1.8 (Time Protection) if deemed appropriate.
