Number of Democratic Seats in Congress after 2008 Elections

The Exchange has listed contracts for how many seats the Democrats will hold in the US Senate and House of Representatives after the 2008 Congressional Elections.

Contract Rules:

A contract will settle (expire) at 100 ($10.00) if the Democrats hold the number of seats specified in the contract after the 2008 congressional elections.

A contract will settle (expire) at 0 ($0.00) if the Democrats DO NOT hold the number of seats specified in the contract after the 2008 congressional elections.

Expiry will be based on the official results of the 2008 congressional elections, as published in three independent and reliable media sources.

For expiry purposes any seats held by independents that caucus with the Democrats will NOT be considered Democratic seats. A seat must be officially held by a Democrat to be included in the total. For example, the Senate seats currently held by Joe Leiberman and Bernie Sanders would NOT be considered Democratic seats for expiry purposes.

The Exchange reserves the right to invoke Contract Rule 1.8 (Time Protection) if deemed appropriate.

Any changes to the result after the contract has expired will not be taken into account - Exchange Rule 1.4
