NATIONAL JOURNAL GROUP ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF NATIONAL JOURNAL POLITICAL STOCK EXCHANGE POWERED BY INTRADE
Will allow players to trade on their predictions for 2008 campaigns and top political news and events
WASHINGTON - National Journal Group, Washington's leading publisher of political and policy news and analysis, announced today the launch of the National Journal Political Stock Exchange (NJPSE), a fantasy political stock market located on NationalJournal.com that will allow players to put their political knowledge to the test by predicting specific outcomes related to a wide range of political events, including all angles of the highly contested 2008 presidential campaign. The new feature is powered by Intrade, the leading prediction market provider, through a partnership announced earlier this summer.
Who will win the major party nominations in 2008? Which party will control the House and the Senate after the 2008 election? What will the president's job approval rating be on December 31, 2007? Players on the National Journal Political Stock Exchange will use their knowledge and passion to predict these specific political outcomes and more, including every aspect of the 2008 presidential cycle, congressional and gubernatorial races, newsmaker decisions and international politics.
NJPSE, now available (and open to the public) on NationalJournal.com, includes information and analysis to inform the players' trades. Politically engaged voters around the country can join Washington insiders in using play money ("NJ Dollars") to buy and sell the contracts on political questions - as on a stock market - to earn prizes and glory among their friends and colleagues.
"The launch of the National Journal Political Stock Exchange brings the age-old Washington parlor game of predicting political events into the online world," said Suzanne P. Clark, President of National Journal Group. "It will provide a place for politically engaged citizens from Washington and around the country to participate and express their opinions on one of the most exciting election cycles in years."
NJPSE (
http://njpse.nationaljournal.com) also features a leaderboard displaying the top players' scores, as well as a listing of the most active contracts of the day. Additional information on how to trade a contract, as well as how to sign up to participate in the contest, can be found on the web site.
