Chinese Military Action Against Taiwan

The Exchange has listed contracts on China taking military action against Taiwan. These contracts can be found under Current Events -- Taiwan

A contract will close (expire) at 100 ($10.00) if China conducts overt military action against Taiwan, either within or outside of Taiwanese territory, before the end of the day (ET) specified in the contract. The contract will expire at 0 ($0.00) if no overt military action is taken.

Any action must be officially and publicly announced by an official or agency of an interested government (including, but not limited to, China, Taiwan, Japan, United States) and reported in three independent and reliable media sources before the contract will be expired at 100.


Overt military action is defined as any military attack on Taiwanese military or civilian targets or infrastructure by Chinese naval, air or ground forces. This includes any defensive or retaliatory actions.

Covert action taken by Chinese military or intelligence agencies that is not officially and publicly announced by an agency or official of a government and reported in three independent and reliable media sources will not be considered for expiry purposes.

Any military blockade undertaken by China against Taiwan or any inspection of Taiwanese vessels conducted by the Chinese military will not be considered an overt military action.

In the event of an action being launched before midnight on the expiration date, but not executed until after midnight that contract will be expired at 0 as actual military engagement must take place in order for an overt military action to have occurred.

The Exchange reserves the right to invoke Contract Rule 1.8 (Time Protection) if deemed appropriate.

Any changes to the result after the contract has expired will not be taken into account - Exchange Rule 1.4
