What user authentication does intrade use?
intrade uses account number/ password for user authentication. For security reasons, you will automatically be logged off after a period of inactivity i.e. you make no requests within this period.

What happens if I lose my connection in the middle of a transaction?
If your connection to intrade is lost in the middle of a transaction (i.e. Enter or Cancel Order), you should check when your connection is re-established whether this request was accepted or not, by viewing your open Orders and/or Trades.

Does intrade use cookies?
intrade uses session cookies and permanent cookies. Session cookies are used for authentication of the User session once you are logged in. The session cookie will be removed either on logoff, forced logoff or upon closing your browser.
The session cookie will only be passed between your PC and our web site over SSL (see below). The session data within the cookie is encrypted.
Permanent cookies remain on the pc after the online session has ended. intrade only uses permanent cookies to detect and record the number of new members referred from other websites with whom intrade has a commercial arrangement.

What type of encryption technology does intrade use?
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Once you are logged in, intrade uses 128 bit secure HTTP (https) for transmission of all private information (Trading Screen and My Account) between your PC and the web site.
Encryption technology ensures that your client session cannot be intercepted i.e. any data passing between us cannot be snooped. intrade possesses a Verisign Secure Server Certificate, which acts as an authorized recognizable stamp of authenticity and security to your browser. Your browser will display a padlock in the status bar whenever you are in an https encrypted transmission.
Earlier versions of browsers may not support 128bit encryption. You can check the level of encryption your browser supports by doing mouse over on the padlock displayed in your browser. We strongly recommend that you upgrade to a 128 bit browser version. For convenience we've included the following links : Microsoft Internet Explorer : http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/ie/download/128bit/default.asp

How secure are my bank details?
intrade takes your security very seriously and consequently we ensure that all sensitive information is kept encrypted on our customer database. intrade does not keep the entire account number of your bank, credit card intact, hence the requirement for you to type in the last 4 digits when you elect to add or use a card for payment. All transmissions between intrade and our card payment processor partners are private and issued over SSL.

What are my browser requirements?
intrade currently supports Netscape v6 and Internet Explorer 4.0 and above. Browser settings must be configured to enable session cookies, javascript and iframes. These are typically default settings but if they are not enabled, switch them on via the "options" or "tools" menu on your browser

How important is connection speed?
Lack of bandwidth is often the main cause of a slow user experience. Increased connection speed will undoubtedly enhance the quality of your real time trading experience. The minimum connection speed recommended would certainly be a dial-up modem offering at least a continuous 56.6kbps. We recommend you consider the numerous broadband or cable options offered within your area by your ISP, cable or telecom providers.

Can I access intrade if my company uses an Internet firewall?
You will have no problems if you are accessing intrade from within a corporate firewall, as long as the firewall rules allow http and https traffic, unrestricted by specific domain names.
